Mayilvanan Chinnaiyan, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow


Mayilvanan earned his PhD in Biomedical Sciences-Endocrinology from the University of Madras, Chennai, India. His PhD dissertation focused on the antidiabetic potential of a phytochemical called ferulic acid and GLUT4 translocation mechanism in type-2 diabetes. Before his PhD, he earned a MS in Biomedical Sciences from University of Madras, and BS in Biotechnology from Periyar University, Salem, India. His current research focuses on the cellular and molecular toxicology associated with the use of diverse tobacco products including combustible tobacco and electronic cigarettes.
