Curriculum (X+Y)
The academic year is divided into thirteen 3-week blocks (X) + thirteen 1-week blocks (Y).
All continuity sessions occur during the Y-week, which means residents never have to leave a busy inpatient service to go to continuity clinic.
PGY-1 X-blocks:
- 8 weeks Inpatient General Pediatrics Wards
- 3 weeks Inpatient Gastroenterology & Endocrinology
- 3 weeks Inpatient Cardiology & Nephrology
- 3 weeks Newborn Nursery
- 3 weeks NICU
- 1 week NICU nights
- 3 weeks Emergency Medicine
- 3 weeks General Pediatric Outpatient Clinic (Sooner Pediatrics Clinic)
- 3 weeks Night Float
- 3 weeks Development and Behavioral Pediatrics
- 6 weeks Elective
PGY-2 X-blocks:
- 3 weeks Inpatient General Pediatrics Wards
- 3 weeks Inpatient Cardiology & Nephrology Wards
- 3 weeks Night Float
- 3 weeks PICU
- 3 weeks NICU
- 1 week ICU float
- 3 weeks Adolescent Medicine outpatient
- 3 weeks Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Inpatient Team
- 3 weeks Emergency Medicine
- 11 weeks Electives
PGY-3 X-Blocks:
- 3 weeks Inpatient General Pediatrics Wards
- 3 weeks Inpatient Gastroenterology & Endocrinology
- 4 weeks Night Float
- 4 weeks PICU
- 3 weeks Newborn Nursery
- 3 weeks Bethany Children's Center (long-term and rehabilitative hospital)
- 3 weeks Emergency Medicine
- 2 weeks General Pediatric Outpatient Clinic (Sooner Pediatrics North)
- 14 weeks Elective

Didactics features small-group learning in courses that include Social Determinants of Health, Simulation Curriculum, Quality Improvement (QI), Residents as Teachers, Value-Based Care, Research, Board Review, and more.

Scholarly Activity is time for the residents to work on their self-chosen research project.
