Programs and Clinical Services at the Child Study Center

Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics experts at the Child Study Center assist children with developmental, educational, behavioral or medical needs through evaluations, consultations and treatment from a highly skilled team of pediatric specialists, including board certified: 

  • Developmental & behavioral pediatricians
  • Psychologists
  • Speech pathologists
  • Clinical social workers
  • Professional counselors
  • Occupational therapists
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Child development specialists

The Child Study Center has many programs and clinical services/research available, which include:

  • A Better Chance - a program for infants and children who were exposed to drugs and/or alcohol before birth.
  • Individual Therapy and Assessment - a program that provides therapy and assessment services for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or another serious trauma or loss.
  • Jump Start Developmental Clinic - to help families and care providers understand the developmental and behavioral strengths and challenges faced by young children suspected of having developmental delays.
  • Parent Child Interaction Therapy - a short-term, specialized behavior management program designed for young children experiencing behavioral and/or emotional difficulties and their families.
  • Oklahoma Autism Center - assists local school districts in the implementation of effective programs for children with disabilities.
  • SoonerSUCCESS - Serves families and providers that care for a child with special needs from birth to age 21 with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, emotional/behavioral Issues, developmental delays/disabilities, learning disabilities, abuse or neglect.
  • Clinical Research - provides new or most current medical treatments for patients who may have a neurodevelopmental or behavioral condition such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Learning Disability, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism, etc.
  • Neuropsychology Clinic - provides services to children and adolescents with known or suspected neurological disorders as well as those with neurodevelopmental disorders (Autism, Asperger's, dyslexia, severe communication disorders, etc.)
  • Developmental/Behavioral Consultation Services - a service to assist SoonerCare providers with referrals and resources.
  • Selective Mutism Treatment and Training Program - Established in 2017, this is the only treatment program in the region that offers an intensive behavioral treatment program, Mighty Mouth Kids Camp, for young children with Selective Mutism. The intensive program offers services to families over a period of 11 days with 5 days of camp and 6 days of pre-work preparation before camp. To achieve the best results, the program recruited and trained staff volunteers from Allied Health in speech and language pathology, as well as graduate students from the clinical program at OSU. In addition to the strong interdisciplinary and inter-university programming vital to camp, Shawna Standiford, M.Ed directs assessments and services to individual families throughout the year.
  • Oklahoma Autism CenterOver the past 12 years, the Oklahoma Autism Center has created an infrastructure for statewide research and professional development in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The mission of the Oklahoma Autism Center is to improve the quality of life for children with autism spectrum disorder (and related disabilities) and their families by building capacity of public programs and other providers to offer effective services in Oklahoma. This mission has been accomplished through promoting the use of evidence-based practices in community and public agencies through education, training, and direct service to children and families. OAC offers comprehensive services for children with ASD and their families in the state and is connected to programs on a national level. The Oklahoma Autism Center specializes in early identification, early intervention, training, research, consultation and service provision.
