Dr. Chernausek is the CHF Edith Kinney Gaylord Endowed Chair, is the director of the Pediatric Metabolic Research Program, and serves as the Section Chief.  Dr. Chernausek completed his pediatric residency at the University of Minnesota and his fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the University of North Carolina. He is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology.  Research interests include the hormonal control of growth and the metabolic effect of fetal growth retardation.  He is a member of numerous national organizations and is a Past-President of the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society.  Dr. Chernausek is also a provider in the Diabetes and Endocrinology Clinic.

Board certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology.


Fellowship:

Dr. Chernausek completed his pediatric residency at the University of Minnesota and his fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the University of North Carolina.


Clinical/Research Interests:

  • Hormonal control of growth
  • Mechanisms of GH/IGF action
  • Fetal origins of adult metabolic disease
  • Management of disorders of sex development

Dr. Chernausek is the Co-Principal Investigator for the TODAY study, serves on several writing groups, and conducts physical examinations for study participants.  Research interests include the hormonal control of growth and the metabolic effect of fetal growth retardation.
