The Emergency Department at Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center treats over 45,000 children each year. OU Medicine is home to the state’s only American College of Surgeons-verified Level One Pediatric Trauma Centers, and partners with The Children’s Hospital to provide life-saving interventions to pediatric patients. Our dedicated physician and nursing staff are equipped to manage the medical, traumatic, surgical, and psychosocial emergencies that are seen. Our patients come from home, practitioner offices, and referring hospitals all over the state of Oklahoma. Double Attending coverage is provided 24 hours a day in the ED with all pediatric sub-specialties available by phone. Both the hospitalist and intensive care unit provide in-house coverage 24/7, which enables us to provide Oklahoma with around-the-clock access to comprehensive pediatric care.
The Emergency Department faculty is comprised of 13 board eligible/certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians, four board certified pediatricians, two physician assistants, and three nurse practitioners who staff the Emergency Department.
The Fast Track area is comprised of five additional rooms that are open 14-16 hours a day, depending on the season. The area is staffed with an additional attending physician.
