The heart has emerged as an important tissue in the maintenance of whole-body lipid metabolism. Our lab is investigating a previously-unrecognized Snail transcription factor‒Tep2 axis in the Drosophila heart that signals remotely to TGFβ signaling in the fat body (mammalian adipose tissue) to regulate systemic lipid homeostasis.
