Dr. Helen Milojevich is an Assistant Professor at the Center on Child Abuse and Neglect, Department of Pediatrics.  She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine and completed a T32 postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Developmental Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Dr. Milojevich’s research seeks to answer the question: how does social context shape the way children learn, particularly for children exposed to adverse social contexts (e.g., child maltreatment). To address this question, Dr. Milojevich utilizes a multi-method approach employing longitudinal designs; observational, behavioral, and self-report measures; physiology; and, more recently, daily experience sampling and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Collectively, her work identifies risk and resilience factors and highlights the value of combining biologically-informed methodological tools to examine how social processes work in concert with emotional, cognitive, and biological processes to shape children’s well-being.
