Message from the Chair

The Department of Pathology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) bridges the gap between science and medicine. Whether you are a medical student, a pathology resident candidate, a graduate student, a colleague in the field, or simply interested in the diagnosis and treatment of disease, we hope you will explore our site.

At OU Pathology, we strive for excellence through subspecialty diagnostic and consultative services, innovative teaching, and cutting edge cancer research. To accomplish our missions of patient care, education, and discovery, we employ 48 clinical and research faculty members, 15 pathology residents, and 8 graduate students.

A growing referral and consultation center, our department provides clinical laboratory services to our fellow Oklahomans and residents of surrounding states. We practice at the OU Medical System, which encompasses OU Medical Center (adult inpatient hospital), OU Medical Center Edmond, and the Children’s Hospital. In addition, our faculty members staff the laboratory of the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System. We also serve OU’s Stephenson Cancer Center, caring for patients and conducting translational research.

We recognize our unique position as a medical provider to Oklahoma and teacher of its students. Entrusted with these responsibilities, we value communication and dialog. In this spirit, we encourage you to contact us with comments or questions regarding clinical aspects of pathology, our residency or graduate training programs, or our research endeavors.

Sincerely,

Michael L. Talbert, MD
Lloyd E. Rader Chairman and Professor
Chief of Pathology Services, OU Medical System
