Welcome to the Department of Pathology of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. For over 120 years, we have sought to advance diagnostic medicine and biomedical science. A team of physicians and PhD laboratorians, basic and translational researchers, veterinarians, postdoctoral fellows, pathology and comparative medicine residents, and graduate students, we seek excellence in our three-part mission of patient care, education, and research. To do so, we put people first, including by striving to recruit and develop the best.
As part of OU Health, we collaborate with over 300 technical and managerial clinical lab staff to care for patients of all ages with complex healthcare needs. We are diagnosticians in the OU Health faculty practice, serving the Stephenson Cancer Center, the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center, OU Medical Center, and the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital.
Our award-winning professors help develop the next generation of Oklahoma’s healthcare workforce. We teach learners across OU Health Sciences, including medical, physician associate, nursing, and allied health students. Our 14 pathology residents receive challenging and well-rounded training in anatomic and clinical pathology and go on to fellowships and careers across pathology and laboratory medicine.
Our scientists are experts in cancer biology, diabetes, and nanomedicine who seek to understand and cure human disease. They mentor over two dozen students in our PhD program in pathology.
Moreover, we are also innovators: we find solutions to pressing problems in biomedicine by translating our laboratory-based discoveries.
We’re always looking for new recruits to join our team. If you are dedicated to healing, teaching, discovery, and innovation—for the benefit of our fellow Oklahomans and others beyond our great state—please check us out.
