THE FRED G. SILVA RESEARCH AWARD
Established 1999

Presented to faculty members of the University of Oklahoma Department of Pathology who have demonstrated excellence in research related to the understanding of human diseases.  Their continued quest for knowledge of disease mechanisms is hereby recognized and others are challenged to follow these worthy examples. 

RONALD L. GILLUM SERVICE AWARD
Established 1998

Presented to faculty members who have best demonstrated excellence in service to the profession of pathology and laboratory medicine, the University of Oklahoma, and the Department of Pathology.  Their many acts of selfless service are hereby recognized and others are challenged to follow their worthy example.

RICHARD W. LEECH TEACHING AWARD 
Established 1994

Presented by housestaff of the Department of Pathology to the faculty members who have best exemplified excellence in teaching and service and inspired us by their selfless dedication and enthusiasm as physicians and scientists in pursuit of excellence in pathology.

UNSUNG HERO AWARD
Established 1987

The Unsung Hero Award is presented annually to a member of the pathology faculty who has gone beyond the "call of duty" in teaching and mentoring medical students over the prior academic year.  These individuals give of their time and effort for the satisfaction of guiding students in their quest for knowledge.  The recipient will have his/her name engraved on a permanent plaque in the Department of Pathology.  The Director of Undergraduate Teaching Programs for the Department of Pathology, with input from various student groups, selects the recipient.

Department of Pathology Research Fellowship Awards Program 
Established 2002

This is a sponsored program designed to finance small internal research projects to engage in collaborative research with students, fellows and residents. The Department of Pathology Research Awards Program will fund at least six (6) directed research projects, up to $5,000 each , per year.
