Applying

Thank you for your interest in the Pathology Residency Program at The University of Oklahoma Health Campus.

Our program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).  Applicants are encourage to review the NRMP Policies prior to applying and interviewing.

  • Application Review Begins:  September 23, 2026
  • Interview Invitations:  Sent via email starting on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 4 pm EST which is universal release date for our specialty (with rolling offers to follow depending on the response received).

Application Requirements

To be considered for an interview invitation, candidates must submit a complete ERAS application including:  

  • ERAS Common Application Form (CAF)
  • Official Medical School Transcript
  • Personal Statement
  • Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
  • Three Letters of Recommendation (at least one must be from a practicing Pathologist)
  • Official USMLE (Step 1 and Step 2 CK) or COMLEX (Step 1 and Step 2 CE) transcripts.  There is not a minimum score requirement.
  • Must be Eligible for Oklahoma Licensure
    MD Applicants:  Please review Oklahoma Medical Board of Licensure and Supervision for eligibility requirements
    DO Applicants:  Please review Oklahoma State Board of Osteopathic Examiners for eligibility requirements

In addition, if you are an International Medical Graduate you will need:

  • Valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) Status Report
  • Proof of citizenship, permanent residency (green card), or eligibility for a J-1 VISA sponsorship 

Note:  Applicants must pass USMLE (Step 1 and Step 2 CK) or COMLEX (Level 1 and Level 2 CE) to be considered for ranking.  Per state regulations, candidates who have failed any step/level of the licensing examinations three (3) or more times are ineligible for an Oklahoma Medical License.

Virtual Open House

Prospective applicants are invited to meet our program leadership and current residents during our Virtual Open House.  We will highlight program strengths and host a live Q&A session.

  • Questions:  Submit questions you would like answered during the live Open House

This years Open House will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd at 6:00 pm (CST).     

Interviews

General Interview Information

All interviews for the 2027 recruitment season will be conducted virtually via Zoom.  Selected applicants will receive email notifications (to the email provided on application) with available interview dates.  Date selection will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  

  • Confirmation Window:  Candidates will have a minimum of 72 hours from receipt of invitation to accept or decline.   If declined or no response, the interview slot will be released to another candidate. 

Pre-Interview Resident Meet and Greet

The evening prior to each interview date, we offer an optional, informal virtual session with current residents.  This provides a relaxed setting to ask candid questions about resident life, workload, and culture.

Interview Day Schedule

  • Welcome & Overview:  Program Director, Dr. Sepideh Asadbeigi
  • Interviews:  Five 20-minute interviews with faculty members and Chief Residents (with short built-in breaks)
  • Resident Breakout Session:  Information chat with current residents and a virtual campus tour
  • Wrap-Up & Administrative Review:  Eligibility review with Program Coordinator

Interviews will be held from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm on the following days:

  • Friday, October 30
  • Monday, November 2
  • Wednesday, November 11
  • Friday, November 13
  • Monday, November 30
  • Wednesday, December 2
  • Monday, December 7
