Message from the Director

The Department of Pathology at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus is experiencing significant expansion. Driven by rapid campus development, we have added more than a dozen new faculty members over the past five years to advance our clinical service, medical education, and research initiatives.

Our residency program delivers comprehensive, balanced training across anatomic and clinical pathology. Trainees learn from a diverse faculty with specialized expertise spanning surgical pathology, clinical chemistry, cytopathology, hematopathology, dermatopathology, informatics, laboratory management, medical microbiology, molecular genetic pathology, neuropathology, pediatric pathology, and transfusion medicine.

Program Highlights

  • Flexible Curriculum: Residents receive eight weeks of elective time beginning in their second year, allowing early career specialization prior to fellowship applications.
  • Multidisciplinary Experience: Trainees participate directly in tumor boards at the Stephenson Cancer Center, Oklahoma’s sole NCI-Designated Cancer Center.
  • Career Success: Graduates consistently secure top-tier fellowships across all subspecialties and are fully equipped for careers in both academic medicine and private practice.
  • Mentorship: We foster a supportive, collaborative culture centered on team-based care and individual career development.

Beyond clinical training, Oklahoma City offers an exceptional quality of life characterized by affordability, vibrant culture, and community warmth. Residents enjoy access to premier local institutions—such as the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, and the Oklahoma City Zoo—alongside extensive regional outdoor activities including hiking, cycling, boating, and rock climbing.

We offer an exceptional environment to train, innovate, and thrive. We welcome your application to our program.
