THE MATILDA E. AND CLARENCE W. BOWER MEMORIAL FOR THE SUMMER RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN PATHOLOGY
Established 1998
Dr. Raymond Bower of Fayetteville, Arkansas established this fund in memory of his parents, Matilda E. and Clarence W. Bower in order to provide fellowship support for medical students who spend their summer working on a research project with a faculty mentor in the Department of Pathology. The culmination of the summer's work is a presentation by the student and faculty mentor at a departmental research seminar. Dr. Bower himself has long been a mentor of students, and his hope has been that this support will generate interest or even a career in pathology.

DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY SUMMER FELLOWSHIP
Established 1993
Summer research fellowships in Pathology are offered to provide medical students an opportunity to experience the specialty of pathology as practiced by the academic faculty at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. A participant in the program selects from a variety of research experiences in anatomic, clinical, or experimental pathology. During the summer, each fellowship recipient actively participates in a research study under the direction of a mentor from the Department of Pathology. At the conclusion of the fellowship, each student is acquainted with the discipline of pathology and experienced in performing medical research. The Summer Fellowship in Pathology Program has been generously supported in previous years by the James O. Palmer Pathology Laboratory Associates of Tulsa and the Diagnostic Pathology Services of Oklahoma City. Current funding for students is provided by the Department of Pathology, OUHSC.

DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
Established 2006
This program was established in order to stimulate research in pathology, encourage collaborative partnerships between residents or fellows and patholgy faculty, and promote manuscript submission and/or presentation of research at scientific meetings. Additionally, it will support development of preliminary results to aid in submission of research grants to local or national funding agencies.
