Facilities
Pathology residents primarily participate in rotations at OU Health Medical Center, a 870 staffed-bed academic medical center. The facility includes Everett Tower (Children's Hospital and Women's & Newborn Pavilion), the Presbyterian Professional Building (adult outpatient clinics), and Presbyterian Tower (adult inpatient services and Level 1 Trauma Center). OU Health serves as the anchor of the 275-acre Oklahoma Health Campus.
The surgical pathology laboratories process approximately 20,000 cases per year. Cytopathology is responsible for approximately 70,000 cases per year. Clinical pathology performs more than 3 million tests per year.
The Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a free standing, but connected, 300 staffed-bed hospital with annual average admissions of 7,400, annual average surgical cases of 5,300, annual average clinical lab tests of 1,400,000, and annual average cytology specimens of 2,000.
State of Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office provides residents with forensic pathology training. Physicians at the ME's office have faculty appointments through the Department of Pathology. Approximately 1,400 necropsies are performed each year at this facility.
Residents and fellows also rotate to the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI), a premier regional not-for-profit blood center providing blood and blood products to 90 hospitals across Oklahoma. Physicians at OBI are Department of Pathology faculty, and are board-certified in blood-banking and transfusion medicine. OBI's mission is to provide the safest and highest quality blood, services and health programs to the patients and communities we serve.
Rotations across these partner institutions form an integral component of training, ensuring broad exposure to diverse clinical cases and patient populations in both anatomic and clinical pathology.

Resident salary and benefit packages (health, life, and institutional malpractice insurance) are set by the College of Medicine and are intended to be competitive with comparable programs. In addition to the salary and benefits listed above, the pathology residency program also provides:
- Reimbursement for Oklahoma medical licensure fees
