Summer Fellowship Application Form
Description
The Summer Research Fellowship in Pathology program offers research opportunities to students just completing their first year classes of Medical School at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. The fellowship runs for 8 weeks beginning in June. The fellowship offers students a variety of laboratory experiences in anatomic, clinical, or experimental pathology, and is designed to encourage students to consider career paths in pathology and/or research. Participants choose from a variety of projects designed by Department of Pathology faculty mentors. Students will receive a stipend for their participation in the program. The Summer Research Fellowship in Pathology program is sponsored by the Matilda E. and Clarence W. Bower Memorial Fund, the Dr. & Mrs. Carlos Araoz Pathology Fund, and the University of Oklahoma, Department of Pathology.
Available Projects
Eligibility
Students currently in their first year of medical school at the University of Oklahoma Medical School are eligible to apply. Students who are interested in a career in pathology may be given preferential consideration. While students who have had previous research experience may be at an advantage in performing laboratory research, we strongly encourage highly motivated students who do not have a research background to apply to the program.
Application
Students interested in the program must submit a completed application no later than April 17th on the same year of the program. Applicants must choose to work with a specific mentor (this must be mutually agreed upon between student and mentor); a list of prospective projects/mentors will be compiled each year. Please see “Available Projects” link. Further information for the fellowship program is available from Dr. Kyle Wright at 271-7632 or Ms. Rose Herrera at 271-2693.
