Rishi Thakral, MD, is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement.  Dr. Thakral specializes in total joint replacement (hip and knee), revision total joint surgery, and hip preservation surgery.  He also has interest in lower extremity deformity correction and lengthening.

Dr. Thakral earned his medical degree from MR Medical College Gulbarga, India.  He completed both a Surgery Residency and an Orthopedic Surgery Residency in Ireland.  He continued his specialized education, receiving Fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Chicago and the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.  He also completed a Fellowship in Limb Reconstruction and Lengthening at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Thakral has several mission trips and volunteer work to his credit, one being part of a team to assist victims of an earthquake in Haiti. He is an active member of various orthopedic societies and regularly contributes to education of physicians and other health professionals. His research interests are focused on multimodal drug therapy and rapid recovery protocols, robotic and computer assisted surgeries, traumatic arthritis, deformity correction and limb lengthening, complex reconstruction and revision hip and knee surgeries, periprosthetic joint infection and periprosthetic fractures. He has presented his research extensively in various national and international meetings, and has authored several orthopedic manuscript and abstracts.

Dr. Thakral has a strong commitment to patient care and education.  He believes in educating his patient about their condition and assists them in making decisions for their care. He strives to improve their quality of life by using advanced care protocols, technology and balancing with care with evidence-based medicine.
