This is a community of practice for faculty interested in learning more about educational scholarship, networking with like-minded colleagues, and finding collaborators. Members commit to attending monthly meetings and supporting each other by collaboratively reviewing each other’s research protocols, surveys, data analysis, abstracts, posters, presentations, etc. We also share our expertise through presentations and research collaborations. For some members, this is the first time they have participated in educational research.
First year’s successes:
- At the 2019 Annual Health Professions Education Research Poster Session, 10 of the 25 posters were from HERO members.
- 2 publications
- Other manuscripts in progress
- 4 national presentations
- 2 ATS AY21920 grant awardees are HERO members.
Testimonials:
HERO is a“working-group” that is truly a “working-group”. I’ve met medical educators from different campus departments that are real worker bees and have moved our research from idea to abstract.
We have found collaborators in HERO who are helping move two research projects forward to publication. This work would likely have languished if not for the support from HERO members.
