Welcome to the Joe Lewallen Annual Department of
Pediatrics Research Day

On behalf of the Department of Pediatrics Research Day Committee, please accept this Save the Date to participate in the Joe Lewallen Annual Department of Pediatrics Research Day. The first 20 years of this event have been overwhelmingly successful, showcasing the depth and breadth of the research occurring within our department and at The Oklahoma Children's Hospital. We had 117 abstracts presented last year.

The primary goals of Research Day are to showcase the various types of research, case reports, advocacy and QI projects active in our department, share our mutual interests, and develop intradepartmental and interdepartmental collaborations.

We expect submissions from our current pediatric and medicine-pediatrics residents. In addition, we would like to see at least one submission per section, and anticipate that sections heavily engaged in research will submit several abstracts. There is no limit to the number of abstracts a section may submit. Section Chiefs, please encourage faculty and fellows involved in research, QI, or advocacy project to submit abstracts, as Research Day can only be as strong as the quantity and quality of the content.

Key Dates:
Abstract Submissions Open: October 1, 2026
Abstract Submissions Closes: November 12, 2026
Abstract Withdrawal Deadline : November 16, 2026

The Research Day Committee also encourages individuals in departments outside of Pediatrics whose primary research involves children to participate. Please forward this webpage to anyone outside the Department of Pediatrics who you think may be interested in submitting an abstract.
