How to Apply

Deadline for submitting Videos and Letters of Interest: October 13, 2024 11:59 pm central time.

Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS): We use ERAS for the NRMP match process. An Applicant Information Sheet is available to explain how it works by accessing the Internet at www.aamc.org/eras.

Application Requirements:
We require the following documents, most of which can be transmitted to us by ERAS after you supply them to your Dean's Office:

1. Completed ERAS Application
2. Personal Statement (via ERAS)
3. Medical School Transcript (via ERAS)
4. Dean's Letter (MSPE) (via ERAS)
5. Three (3) or more Letters of Recommendation (via ERAS)
6. High-Resolution Photograph (via ERAS)
7. USMLE Transcript and/or COMLEX Transcript (via ERAS) We require a complete and official transcript from NBME.
8. ECFMG Status Report (foreign medical graduates only) (via ERAS)
9.
Medical School Transcript: If you have already graduated from medical school, your transcript should include the entire fourth year.
10. Recommendation Letters: A letter from orthopedic faculty with whom you have worked at your school will carry the most weight and is recommended. Following that, in descending order of preference, letters from other orthopedic faculty, other medical school faculty, practicing orthopedic surgeons, and other physicians who are familiar with you.

Additional Information: We receive approximately 500 - 600 completed applications through ERAS each year. Our Screening Committee reviews these applications and approximately 60 applicants are invited to interview on 3 selected days in late December and/or early January. Most applicants invited to interview are well-rounded individuals who are in the upper one-third of their class and have high board scores. Many are members of AOA and Gold Humanism Society. We typically do not contact applicants about documents missing in their files. Any file that is not complete by the deadline will not be reviewed in the screening process.

In addition to the documents listed above, we encourage all applicants to submit a separate OU Letter of Interest and/or a brief video (see below). This allows our team of reviewers to evaluate your interest in our program and in living in Oklahoma. While your application will be considered complete without this submission, the information provided is very valuable to the review process.
