Application Information

Application Process

Primary Application

We participate in the NRMP (http://www.nrmp.org/) and accept applications only through ERAS (https://www.aamc.org/services/eras/). Applications will be reviewed in a holistic approach.

For the 2025 ERAS® cycle, our program will be participating in the supplemental ERAS application offered through the AAMC’s ERAS program. Applicants will be required to complete the MyERAS application, and participation in the supplemental ERAS application is optional.

Primary Application Deadline: October 16, 2024

Please note: Applicants that do not signal our program will not receive an interview for residency as those applications will not be reviewed. Applicants that have failed any portion of the STEP examinations or courses on their medical school transcript are unlikely to be offered an interview.

Interviews

The 2025 Residency Candidate Interviews, as well as the Resident-Candidate Socials, will be held virtually this upcoming season. Please note we will interview for the Advanced Resident Track (to start July 1, 2026). Applicants selected for interviews will be notified by email of their date and time by the Program Director. All interviews will be conducted remotely utilizing the Zoom platform.

One aspect of in person interviews we will truly miss is the dinner for the applicants with the residents the evening before the interviews.  We have not been able to design a way to recreate that environment virtually but will arrange a group call between our residents and each group of applicants prior to the interview dates.

As part of the interview, each applicant will give a five-minute PowerPoint presentation about themselves. The presentation should include information about the interviewee, their interest in dermatology and unique personal qualities. The purpose of the presentation is to allow the interviewers to gain insights into information about the applicant that is not necessarily well represented in the ERAS application.  Tell us about the experiences, factors and individuals that have helped shape your life.  Let us get to know you a little.

After the PowerPoint presentations each applicant will spend about 30 minutes with a group of faculty and residents.

The interview process will conclude with a two additional Zoom calls.  One between a resident and the applicant and an additional call with a faculty member.  The purpose of these calls is to allow the applicant to ask any questions they might have regarding our program.

Interviews

Although we wish we could invite all external rotators to interview, it is unfortunately no longer practical. We invite any 4th year medical student at an accredited U.S. medical school with an interest in dermatology and Oklahoma to apply to rotate at our institution. A rotation gives the candidates a chance to showcase their skills that may not be as evident in an ERAS application.
