Interview Process

This year the OU Family Medicine interviews will be held entirely via Zoom. The interview day will begin with a welcome and program overview with our Program Coordinator, Misty Raper, followed by a presentation from our chief residents. You will rotate through four 25-minute virtual interviews with a short break between each. During this break, you will spend time with other applicants, some of our residents, and Misty. Once your interviews have concluded, there will be an opportunity to join some of our residents for any last questions. More information will be given when your interview is scheduled.

Eligibility

You must apply through Electronic Residency Application Services (ERAS). All appointments are made through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and applicants must register through the website. Interviews are by invitation only and based on academic performance, United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and/or COMLEX-USA scores, and letters of recommendation. We accept both MD and DO candidates.

Applicants should schedule USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 2 CS (or equivalent COMLEX exams) and release their scores to ensure that the program can view them by mid-February to be considered for placement on the rank order list.

Current senior or graduate of an LCME-approved medical school (or osteopathic equivalent) or an international graduate with a valid ECFMG certificate and valid visa or permanent resident status are eligible to apply. All appointments for residency are subject to ability to obtain unrestricted Oklahoma medical license.

  • Must have graduated within the last 5 years
  • Pass Step 1, Step 2, and CS in no more than 2 attempts cumulatively.
  • Sincere interest in Family Medicine as a discipline

Life in Oklahoma City

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center campus is one of only a few comprehensive health centers in the nation with seven health professional Colleges – Allied Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Graduate Studies – right in the heart of the state capital, Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City metro area has great educational opportunities, professional sports, a strong economy, a commitment to the arts, and one of the lowest costs of living in the United States.
