The mission of the OU College of Medicine Nuclear Medicine Residency Program is to provide the best possible educational experience for our residents through excellence in patient care, teaching, and service to the state and neighboring states. Graduates of the program are qualified to serve the community and society at large as specialists in all aspects of clinical nuclear medicine. Our goal is the education of well-trained physicians in Nuclear Medicine, able to practice independently, competently and with a constant focus on patient and nuclear medicine employee safety. To this end we hope to produce a well-rounded nuclear medicine physician with skills that will allow him/her to competently serve in a clinical nuclear medicine environment that encompasses the clinical and therapeutic application of radioactive materials. Our objective is to integrate general competency education into the formal didactic curriculum as well as the daily faculty case review sessions.
The Nuclear Medicine Residency Training Program accepts applications through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS).
Candidates should contact their local Graduate Medical Education office for instructions on registering with ERAS. Our program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) http://www.nrmp.org/
We are an Advanced Standing Program, and qualified candidates must apply for a preliminary clinical year concurrently and separately in a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or equivalent organization.
