Requirements for Application

Following are the minimum requirements to apply to the College of Medicine:

  1. U.S. citizen or hold a U.S. permanent visa at the time of initial AMCAS application submission
  2. Total GPA of 3.0
  1. Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) score of 492
  1. Letters of Recommendation: Three (3) letters of evaluation should be sent from individuals who are familiar with the applicant's recent scientific work, study experience, or professional experience. If a pre-medical advisory committee letter is received, it will count as two (2) of these three (3) letters. The letters should be submitted through AMCAS Letters Service as part of the AMCAS application. Additional letters of recommendation may also be submitted but are not required. We accept up to eight letters total.
  1. A letter grade of C or better is required in prerequisite courses. Pass/Fail grading, advanced placement, and CLEP courses are accepted if a higher course is taken for a grade.
  1. OU College of Medicine Secondary Application - fee of $85.00 (non-refundable).
  1. Minimum of 90 college hours including 6 semesters of college attendance, or equivalent - (to be completed by matriculation).

Genetics, Cellular Biology, or Molecular Biology (your choice)

Pass/Fail grading, advanced placement and CLEP courses are accepted if a subsequent higher course is taken for a grade.

In addition, it is recommended applicants take the following courses:

A writing-intensive English course*

* A writing-intensive course should include instructional objectives and graded assignments that are designed to enhance college-level writing skills.
