A vibrant medical school is essential for Oklahoma’s continued development and success in medical education, biomedical research and healthcare. At the OU College of Medicine, we are dedicated to leading and advancing the frontiers in each of these areas.

Each year, approximately 2,200 individuals apply to OU College of Medicine, and we now select approximately 600 applicants for interviews. For the class of 2028, we proudly welcomed 188 students from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. The college serves to be a place of belonging and emotional growth for all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and patients. Each member of our campus communities is responsible for creating a culture that welcomes all, celebrates experiences, and ensures voices are valued.

Our students receive an education deeply rooted in the triad of academic medicine: education, research, and patient care. Graduates of the OU College of Medicine are well-prepared to make meaningful impacts in people’s lives, combining skill with compassion.

Join us at the OU College of Medicine and become a part of a community that is shaping the future of healthcare.

Medical Humanities Scholars Program

In 2000, the University of Oklahoma Honors College and the College of Medicine created a partnership to further the study of humanities in relationship to medicine called the Medical Humanities Scholars Program. This is a joint venture with the OU College of Medicine and is a highly competitive academic and extracurricular program for graduating high school seniors who know they wish to attend medical school. Students are selected on the basis of their academic performance (both grades and test scores); their familiarity with and experiences within medicine; their interests in the humanities and social sciences; their extracurricular activities; and their maturity.
