The newborn resuscitation service at the University of Oklahoma was practically nonexistent when Dr. Anne Wlodaver arrived in 1990, it is now as well-equipped as any delivery room in the country if not even better. We have close to 5000 deliveries a year coming from all corners of the state. A lot of these deliveries are high risk, hydrops fetalis, EXIT procedures and delivery to ECMO or emergent surgical cardiac rescue are being done here. It has become a center of excellence to the point of being able to attract researchers to present at our annual symposium. We are now connected with other centers for new studies. Now, Dr. Wlodaver is developing a perinatal palliative care with the help of the Children’s Hospital pediatric palliative care team.
