A Message from the Program Director
I am honored to lead the faculty of the University of Oklahoma Hand Surgery Fellowship. Our program is designed to allow trainees to develop the expertise and confidence needed to excel in hand and upper extremity care, regardless of their future practice environment.

The fellowship is based at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center campus, which features the state’s only certified Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma centers, the only dedicated pediatric hospital, and an ambulatory surgery center. Fellows will benefit from a supportive and collaborative environment within a department that fosters a strong team-oriented culture. The training experience is further enriched by rotations at two conveniently located sites off-campus:  Mercy Hospital and SSM St. Anthony Hospital. This structure offers a unique combination of exposure to a high-volume academic medical center and the advantages of a busy community practice—all in a vibrant, family-friendly community.

Our diverse faculty includes hand surgeons with training backgrounds in both Orthopedic and Plastic Surgery. We welcome all qualified applicants and are committed to providing exposure to a variety of perspectives and approaches to patient care and practice management.

Fellows will gain comprehensive experience in all aspects of hand and microsurgery, from shoulder to fingertip. This includes pediatric and congenital conditions, complex trauma and reconstruction, musculoskeletal oncology, upper extremity arthroscopy and endoscopy, workers’ compensation cases, soft tissue reconstruction, and wide-awake surgery (WALANT).

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery has a rich tradition of excellence in hand surgery and fellowship education. With rapid growth and a positive, collaborative culture, the department continues to strengthen its commitment to providing exceptional training.

Thank you for your interest in our fellowship program. On behalf of our faculty, I encourage you to reach out with any questions.
