Dr. Szyld's research focus is on Neonatal Resuscitation. His expertise is on multicenter pragmatic clinical trials. Dr. Szyld organized and participated in large studies evaluating different procedures in the Delivery Room leading to change in practice globally. In addition, he participated in large multicenter studies evaluating different strategies to reduce perinatal HIV transmission. Finally, he evaluated the impact of neonatal resuscitation training.

Dr. Szyld coordinates the clinical research activities in the section providing advice and mentoring on design and conducting clinical studies being instrumental in mentoring and training of young faculty and fellows. He coordinates the multidisciplinary team performing clinical and simulation studies on neonatal resuscitation including ventilatory support, chest compression and monitoring. He performs systematic reviews and meta-analysis and teaches fellows and residents critical appraisal of the literature promoting evidence base medicine.
Dr. Szyld has served on the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation, Newborn Subsection since 2003. He has served on the American Heart Association neonatal writing group since 2015 and recently named Co-chair.
