The Neonatology section is deeply committed to advancing evidence-based quality improvement (EBQI) through robust engagement at national, state, and local levels. Nationally, we actively participate in collaborative initiatives through the Children’s Hospitals Neonatal Consortium (CHNC) and the Vermont Oxford Network (VON), contributing data and leadership to drive evidence-based improvements in neonatal care. At the state level, we are proud partners with the Oklahoma Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative (OPQIC), where we help shape statewide strategies to optimize perinatal outcomes. Locally, our team leads and supports a wide range of QI projects within the NICU, underpinned by a strong infrastructure that includes dedicated QI leadership, data support, and structured pathways for multidisciplinary collaboration.
Our section fosters a culture of continuous learning and scholarly engagement in evidence-based quality improvement and implementation science. Faculty, fellows, residents, nurses, and advanced practice providers work side-by-side on initiatives, ensuring diverse perspectives and shared ownership. We prioritize collaboration with our nursing and healthcare colleagues, recognizing their integral role in every phase of EBQI work. Educationally, we are committed to developing the next generation of clinician-scholars by integrating EBQI methodology into fellowship and residency training. Our trainees routinely lead and publish EBQI projects, gaining hands-on experience that prepares them to be leaders in neonatal care improvement nationwide.
