I initially chose to attend the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine because my family and support system are nearby. However, I have come to appreciate how rewarding the education has been. I am truly grateful for the incredible faculty and department mentors at OU College of Medicine, who are dedicated to supporting students’ lifelong learning. They guide students to make critical decisions and help us build meaningful connections with patients. Since the start of orientation, the anatomy faculty has taught us to appreciate others' contributions to our education by organizing a lunch to meet with the families of our anatomical donors, of which OU was the first medical school to do so. The college has also offered valuable opportunities to volunteer and give back to the community while supporting underserved patients from diverse backgrounds. I’m especially grateful for the chance to engage in personalized research and explore academic interests of value. One of my favorite memories from my first year has been participating in our intramural pickleball season with my classmates. Overall, my experience at OU College of Medicine has been professionally and personally enriching.
