We are thrilled to announce the official launch of or new Child Residency program, accredited by the (ACGME) Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education fiscal year 2024-2025. We invite aspiring residents to train with our distinguished faculty and become part of a new generation of leaders in OU Child Neurology.
OU Child Neurology Residency Program is a 36-month program. Additionally, the Child Neurology Child Residency Program will secure 24 months of pediatric training at our institute for applicants interested in a combined 5 year program. The Child Neurology program has 1-2 positions per year. The residency curriculum based on the ACGME Neurology Residency Review Committee (RRC) program requirements, the six ACGME competencies, and the learning objectives for neurologists published by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. The result is a comprehensive, competency-based curriculum that blends an extensive and innovative didactic curriculum with equally extensive and varied clinical experiences.
The goals of the OU neurology residency program are:
· To provide resources and opportunities for each resident to achieve excellence in the 6 ACGME competencies
· Patient care
· Medical knowledge
· Practice-based learning & improvement
· Interpersonal & communication skills
· Professionalism
· Systems-based practice
· To ensure that each resident, by the time of graduation, achieves the ability to function independently as a neurologist
· To empower each resident with knowledge and strategies that promote well-being and prevent burnout
