Message from the Division Director

LJennings Dec 2019 - resizedThe Donald W. Reynolds Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine exists to serve Oklahoma's aging population — through the patients we treat, the trainees we educate, and the research we conduct. As Division Director, I am proud to lead a team of geriatricians, palliative medicine specialists, health services researchers, and staff who bring that mission to life every day.

Our vision is to be a national leader in preserving health and quality of life for an aging society. We pursue that vision through a tripartite mission of patient care, education, and research, and through core values of excellence, compassion, service, innovation,
and collaboration that shape how we work together and with the people we serve. In patient care, our clinical teams support older adults across a full continuum of settings — primary and consultative geriatric care, inpatient and outpatient palliative medicine, and post-acute and long-term care — always centering on what matters most to each patient and family. In education, we train and mentor fellows, residents, and medical students in geriatrics and palliative medicine, preparing them to meet the needs of a rapidly aging state and nation. In research, our division has a particular strength in health services research. Rather than asking only what good care for older adults looks like, our investigators study how to actually deliver it — improving dementia care delivery systems, geriatric cancer care, fall prevention, and outcomes across real-world clinical settings. These three pillars reinforce one another: our research informs how we teach and how we care for patients, our clinical work grounds our research questions in what patients actually need, and our trainees carry both forward into their own careers.

I invite you to look through our site to learn more about our clinical programs, our training opportunities, and the research underway in our division. Thank you for your interest in the Donald W. Reynolds Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine.
