Mission and Aims


Our mission is to train capable and compassionate Radiation Oncologists by providing an environment in which they can experience the full scope of the specialty, enable them to learn how to practice evidence-based medicine, and ensure they gain the knowledge requisite for passing their board certification exams and progressing on to independent practice. As the premier cancer center in the state, it is also our mission to recruit individuals with a strong work ethic and a desire to serve the people of the State of Oklahoma and the surrounding region.


It is our aim to: 
  • provide exposure to and teaching in a wide variety of radiation therapies, including brachytherapy facilitate our trainees' ability to achieve high board passage rates by protecting academic time and instituting mock orals across disease sites 
  • broaden our educational program by incorporation of guest speakers from physicians outside of our program and our institution 
  • emphasize strong interprofessional and interdisciplinary relationships and improve resident communication skills to ensure high quality and safe patient care 
  • engage all residents and faculty with a core philosophy of encouragement, accountability, positive morale, resilience, and helpfulness
