A CENTER OF EXCELLENCE: OU HEALTH STEPHENSON CANCER CENTER

Much of the cancer research conducted by OU College of Medicine faculty is carried out in partnership with the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center, Oklahoma's only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Cancer Center. This prestigious designation recognizes excellence in cancer research, clinical care, education and community outreach and places Stephenson Cancer Center among an elite group of institutions leading the nation's fight against cancer.
Stephenson Cancer Center serves as the hub for cancer research across the OU Health Sciences campus, bringing together investigators from basic science, translational, clinical, behavioral and population health disciplines. Through multidisciplinary collaboration, researchers are advancing discoveries in cancer biology, prevention and control, novel therapeutics, precision medicine and clinical trials. The center's robust research infrastructure and shared resources support investigators at every stage of discovery, helping move promising findings toward real-world applications that benefit patients across Oklahoma and beyond.
As an academic cancer center, Stephenson Cancer Center embodies the tripartite mission of education, research and patient care. Patients gain access to innovative clinical trials and emerging therapies, researchers have opportunities to study cancer in real-world clinical settings, and students and trainees learn alongside leading experts who are shaping the future of oncology. Together, these missions create a cycle of continuous innovation that advances scientific knowledge, improves patient outcomes and strengthens the health of communities throughout the state.
