Jason S. Lees, MD, is a Professor and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs in the Department of Surgery at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Lees is a native of Edmond, OK, ​who attended the University of Oklahoma for his undergraduate studies, from which he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. Following this, he completed his doctor of medicine at the OU College of Medicine. He subsequently completed his residency at the University of Oklahoma in General Surgery, during which he spent two years as a Research Fellow at the Oklahoma Research Foundation and Department of Surgery research labs.

At the completion of his residency, he was honored as the Lloyd Rader Outstanding Graduating Resident from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. After completing a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami in 2006, he returned to Oklahoma. He also completed a Surgical Education Research Fellowship through the Association of Surgical Education and Southern Illinois University in 2012.

His clinical focus has been in Acute Care Surgery at OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center, the only American College of Surgeons-verified Level One Trauma Center in Oklahoma. He serves on a variety of leadership and service committees, focusing on Administration and Education.

​Dr. Lees is the Surgical Residency Program Director. His faculty honors include the Gold Humanism Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha, Outstanding Trauma Team Member, and StAT Alumnus of the Year. Within OU Physicians he co-chairs the practice group’s committee on wellness and collegiality. He is active in the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, American College of Surgeons, Eastern Association for Surgery and Trauma, the Association for Surgical Education and Association for Program Directors in Surgery.
