Congratulations to Michaela Vance recipient of an NIH F31 Fellowship!

Published: Monday, August 31, 2026

Michaela Vance, Cell Biology PhD student in the lab of Dr. Shannon Conley has recently received a competitive NIH F31 fellowship from the National Institute of Aging.  Michaela’s work focuses on the biology of cerebrovascular aging, particularly how endothelial cell phenotypic plasticity may contribute to impaired blood vessel function and cognitive decline.

The completion of her studies will reveal cellular mechanisms underlying age-associated vascular fragility in the brain potentially leading to new therapeutic targets to combat vascular dementia and increase health span.
