Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program

Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency at the University of Oklahoma.  Med/Peds residency education is targeted to teach the delivery of superior medical care to children and adults in an inpatient and outpatient setting.  Educating residents in a comprehensive care model is our ultimate goal: to prepare our graduates to practice primary care in a hospital setting or a sub specialty career with a solid base of knowledge. This will help provide a firm foundation for many years of excellent patient care. Although everyone graduating will practice all over the United States and internationally, our aim is to train excellent clinicians for Oklahoma.

Our program was established in 1989 and has become a staple on campus, known for their well-rounded and hard-working residents. Our training is divided among three hospitals all located within a four-block radius, and all connected via indoor walkways. The hospitals include University of Oklahoma Medical Center, Oklahoma Children's Hospital, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. We are currently funded for 12 total residents.

The combined Med/Peds program allows physicians to become superior internists and pediatricians with that little something extra that our combined training provides.  Many of our residents decide on careers in primary care, but others have used their training as a stepping stone for a subspecialty or hospitalist career.  As a combined residency program, we strive to maintain our "Med/Peds" identity while seamlessly integrating clinical responsibilities between the two categorical programs.  We have great facilities at the University of Oklahoma; our faculty are the best of the best when it comes down to educators, clinicians, and scholars.  We invite you to explore our website to learn more about our excellent program.

Oklahoma is a friendly, beautiful state and its residents are fortunate to have an extremely low cost of living as well as a very low crime rate.  Get to know life in OKC.
