Faiazi Appointed Assistant Dean for Clinical Curriculum for OU College of Medicine

The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine has appointed Salar Faiazi, M.D., as assistant dean for clinical curriculum, effective Aug. 24. Faiazi was selected following a competitive search and will provide leadership for the college’s clinical curriculum during a period of significant transformation and growth in the medical program.

In his new role, Faiazi will work closely with faculty, clerkship and course directors, campus leadership and students to strengthen clinical education and advance the college’s curriculum. His leadership will be particularly important as the college continues implementation of the FrontierMD curriculum, ensuring students receive a rigorous, innovative clinical education that prepares them to meet the evolving needs of patients, communities and the health care system.

“Dr. Faiazi brings extensive experience in medical education, clinical teaching and curriculum development, along with a deep commitment to our learners,” said Ian Dunn, M.D., executive dean of the OU College of Medicine and Chief Physician Executive of OU Health. “His collaborative leadership style and passion for medical education will be tremendous assets as we continue to strengthen and advance clinical education across both campuses.”

Faiazi is an alumnus of the OU College of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at OU. He is an internal medicine physician and assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. He currently serves as clerkship director for medicine and associate program director for the internal medicine residency program.

Throughout his career, Faiazi has demonstrated a strong commitment to medical education, curriculum development and assessment. He has received numerous teaching awards, including Aesculapian Awards, recognizing his excellence as an educator. He is also a member of the Oklahoma chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

In addition to his teaching and leadership roles, Faiazi is a highly sought-after advisor and mentor to medical students and residents. His experience working directly with learners across the continuum of medical education will support his efforts to create an outstanding clinical learning environment and further strengthen the connection between classroom learning and clinical practice.

As assistant dean for clinical curriculum, Faiazi will help guide the continued evolution of clinical education within the M.D. program, supporting the college’s commitment to preparing future physicians through innovative, learner-centered medical education.
