Palliative Medicine
Emma Fattakhov, MD is a board-certified physician in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Internal Medicine at OU Health, where she serves on the inpatient palliative care consult service. She is dedicated to caring for patients with serious illness and supporting families through complex and deeply personal medical decisions.
Dr. Fattakhov’s medical journey began in Russia, where she trained and practiced as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist. Early in her career, she developed a deep respect for the continuity of care and the profound trust patients place in their physicians. She later worked as an Emergency Medicine physician in Israel, gaining experience in fast-paced, high-acuity settings that strengthened her clinical judgment and adaptability. These international experiences continue to shape her holistic, culturally sensitive approach to patient care.
After moving to the United States, Dr. Fattakhov completed her Internal Medicine residency at New York University School of Medicine, followed by fellowships in Geriatric Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Hospice & Palliative Medicine at Rush University Medical Center. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in all three disciplines.
Throughout her career, Dr. Fattakhov has been deeply committed to education and mentorship. She finds great joy in working with learners—medical students, residents, and fellows—exploring complex cases together and viewing medicine through their young, curious eyes. She values the shared discovery that happens in clinical teaching and believes that learners continuously renew the spirit of medicine.
Her clinical interests include pain and symptom management, serious illness communication, advanced care planning, and preserving dignity and quality of life for older adults and patients with complex medical needs.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Fattakhov draws inspiration from the arts. She loves classical music, ballet, theater, and opera. She enjoys traveling throughout the United States and abroad, exploring new cultures and landscapes. An avid swimmer and walker, she also loves hiking and discovering new places, always guided by curiosity and appreciation for beauty—qualities she brings into her professional life as well.
