Smoking Relapse Prevention Among Postpartum Women

The major goals of this project are to develop and evaluate a telephone counseling treatment for preventing relapse to smoking among women who quit during pregnancy. Treatment is specifically designed to address barriers to the maintenance of abstinence that occur during the postpartum period.

Dissemination of a Smoking Quitline to the Underserved

This study focuses on increasing dissemination of an existing evidence-based smoking cessation program, the State of Texas Quitline, which is provided by Free & Clear. The design of the study is a group-randomized trial that will be conducted in 10 community health clinics. Clinics are part of the Harris County Hospital District (HCHD) and provide care to a very large, racially/ethnically diverse, low socioeconomic status, underserved population of patients residing in the Houston metropolitan area.
