Dr. Seki Balogun, Program Director

Seki Balogun, MD, FACP, AGSF, Donald W. Reynolds Professor of Medicine is a board-certified geriatrician and palliative care physician with OU Health in Oklahoma City.  She currently serves as the Vice Chair of Education for the Section of Geriatric Medicine and is also the Director of both the Geriatric Medicine and the Palliative Medicine Fellowship Programs.  Dr. Balogun has several decades of experience as a distinguished clinician educator, training and developing programs for learners at undergraduate and graduate medical education levels.  She is the recipient of several awards including Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., Regional Top Doctors and US News and World Report Top Doctors awards for several years.  She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and American Geriatrics Society.  She has received several grants for the development of geriatric education programs.  In her clinical role, she has served as medical director at several long-term care facilities for two decades ad is a certified medical director. Her clinical research focuses on chronic kidney disease in the geriatric population and exploring clinical factors that can affect quality of life.  She has authored many publications and most recently was the editor for the book, Care of the Older African Adult.

 

Dr. Saleem Qureshi, Associate Program Director

Saleem Qureshi, MD, MHSAjoined the Donald W. Reynolds Section of Geriatric Medicine in 2007 after Geriatric Medicine Fellowship. He and his wife, Susie, and two daughters, Maya and Sofia, have enjoyed living in Edmond, Oklahoma for the past sixteen years. He continues to serve as the Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics & Extended Care at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System where he is focused on improving the quality, safety, and delivery of care for aging Veterans across the system. As Associate Program Director for our Geriatric Medicine Fellowship, he maintains a strong interest in recruiting and training future geriatricians that will continue to improve the health and well-being of older adults.
