At the OU Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, research starts with a simple question: how can we take better care of women tomorrow than we do today? Our physicians, scientists and trainees pursue that question everywhere it leads, from the lab bench to the bedside. We study the biology of gynecologic cancers, develop new treatments for infertility and PCOS, search for safer ways to care for mothers and babies, and advance surgery for pelvic floor disorders.
That work has made us one of the nation’s top OB/GYN departments for NIH funding, ranked 22nd in the country, with $16.9 million in research funding. In partnership with the NCI-designated Stephenson Cancer Center and collaborators across the country, we turn discoveries into clinical trials, and those trials into care that reaches patients across Oklahoma and beyond.
