The Office of Access and Community Engagement (ACE) offers free programs designed to give high school students real-world exposure to medicine, research, and healthcare careers. From hands-on clinical experiences to summer research opportunities, ACE is here to help you take the next step.

Club Scrubs

Club Scrubs is a free program for high school students considering a career in healthcare. The program takes place twice a month on Tuesdays, primarily at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus. Participants will explore a variety of healthcare specialties through hands-on activities led by current medical professionals. Priority is given to students from low-income, first-generation, or rural backgrounds, and to graduating seniors. Applications are posted in mid-August.

SPARK

SPARK is a free program for high school students considering a career in healthcare. The program takes place for one week during the summer at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus. Participants spend each day exploring various healthcare specialties through hands-on activities led by current medical professionals.

Research programs for High school students

OMRF Fleming Scholars Program

During this summer research experience, Fleming Scholars will be guided by senior scientists while working on individual projects in cutting-edge labs.

Dates: June 2 – July 25, 2025
Stipend: $5,000

OMRF Fleming Scholars Program

Teen Leaders learn about community support, leadership skills, and how to become advocates for research and human health through monthly second Tuesday of each month 1:30-4:00 p.m. meetings at OMRF.

Cancer Undergraduate Research Experience Jr.(CURE Jr.)

CURE Jr. is a one-day program for rising Oklahoma high school juniors and seniors to learn about careers in cancer research and medicine.

Youth Enjoy Science (YES) Oklahoma

High school juniors and seniors participate in an intensive summer research experience and earn college credit. YES Oklahoma promites STEM education and a love of science among students and teachers in Oklahoma.

A one-day program for students to learn about the pharmacy profession and pharmacy school through activities and tours.
