Most students have three major goals during the fourth year of medical school:
- Continued academic success – anticipation of graduation from medical school
- Success with the Clinical Knowledge (CK) USMLE Step-2
- Success with selection of your residency of choice
This guide has been developed principally to help you with that final objective. The contents have evolved over several years with input from your predecessors and from College of Medicine administration; however, it should not be used as an exclusive source of information. The AAMC’s Roadmap to Residency booklet is available to you online. Additional valuable resources include faculty advisors, peers, published works, and possibly most importantly, the information you review directly from ERAS (the Electronic Residency Application Service) and the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program), as well as information from specific residency programs themselves.
We wish you success in meeting all of your personal and professional goals!
