Legislative Engagement

Children cannot vote and often cannot speak for themselves in the rooms where decisions about their health are made, so our department speaks up on their behalf. Our faculty, fellows, and residents work alongside professional organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and its Oklahoma Chapter, the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness, and the Oklahoma State Medical Association to bring a united pediatric voice to lawmakers at both the state and national levels. From meeting with legislators at the Oklahoma State Capitol to advocating on Capitol Hill, we help shape policies that expand health access, strengthen early childhood education, and support families across Oklahoma.

INK (Invest in Kids) Day

Hosted annually at the Oklahoma State Capitol by the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness (OPSR) in collaboration with the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, INK Day brings together educators, childcare providers, parents, and medical professionals to advocate for early childhood education, health access, and family resources for children ages 0–5.
