While today’s drugs help the majority of people with breast cancer survive for years, many who are treated eventually develop Type 2 diabetes, often years after treatment ends. A recent journal publication by a researcher at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine at OU Health Sciences sheds light on the link between the two diseases and raises awareness for patients and physicians alike.

The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is pleased to announce the appointment of Julia Busik, Ph.D., as chair of the newly combined Department of Biochemistry and Physiology. Busik will also hold the prestigious Ed Miller Endowed Chair in Molecular Biology.

The first published evidence from humans that semaglutide specifically reduces the symptoms of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) has been published in The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry and details a recent collaboration between clinicians and scientists at the OU-TU School of Community Medicine and Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences.

The University of Oklahoma announced today the appointment of Ian F. Dunn, M.D., FACS, FAANS, as executive dean of the OU College of Medicine, pending OU Board of Regents’ approval. Dunn will begin serving in his new position on Jan. 15.
