Welcome to the Department of Cell Biology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Here, we explore how cells function, communicate and respond to their environment, with research spanning cellular signaling, ciliary biology and neuroscience. Faculty use diverse model systems and advanced technologies to uncover the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying health and disease, with the goal of advancing new approaches to diagnosis and treatment. The department provides Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows with interdisciplinary research training across more than 40 laboratories, supported by state-of-the-art imaging and cellular and genetic engineering resources. Together, these strengths create a collaborative environment where innovative biomedical research and scientist training drive discoveries that improve our understanding of human health and disease.
