Precious Okoruwa, MD

Raised in Broken Arrow, Precious is an Oklahoma girl returning to her roots.  She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Neuroscience and continued her education at the Indiana University School of Medicine. 

Throughout medical school, Precious used her voice to lead, investing her energy in efforts such as the Student Promotions Committee and the Black Maternal Health research group, a collection of experts who produce scholarly work on interventions aiming to decrease maternal morbidity and mortality for Black mothers.  Precious also contributed in initiatives across campus ranging from the Student Outreach Clinic (providing medical, dental, pharmaceutical, and social services to the Indianapolis community) to the Leadership and Academic Development Scholars program as a coach of underrepresented students in medicine.

When she’s not caring for patients, Precious can often be found pursuing her many hobbies.  A practiced cake decorator, Precious also enjoys cardio kickboxing and creative writing, including finishing a novel-length fantasy manuscript.  Precious credits writing with making her a better communicator who seeks to use stories to connect with others.
