Abel Mendoza, MSN, APRN-CNS, AGCNS-BC

Abel Mendoza, MSN, APRN-CNS, AGCNS-BC, is an Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist focused on dementia care, geriatrics, case management, care coordination, and quality improvement. He is passionate about caring for older adults and supporting vulnerable populations through compassionate, patient-centered care.
Abel earned his undergraduate degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He received his Master of Science in Nursing through the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where he completed the Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist program. He is board certified as an Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (AGCNS-BC).
Throughout his career, Abel has gained experience in emergency nursing, case management, care coordination, quality improvement, and healthcare analytics. These experiences have shaped his approach to caring for patients with complex needs, improving healthcare processes, using data to inform clinical practice, and navigating the healthcare system. He believes effective care extends beyond treating a diagnosis and includes understanding each patient’s individual needs, circumstances, culture, and goals.
Abel is particularly passionate about dementia care and geriatrics, with an emphasis on helping older adults maintain dignity, independence, and quality of life. He is also committed to advancing quality improvement initiatives and applying healthcare analytics to identify opportunities to improve outcomes, enhance care delivery, and support more efficient, equitable healthcare systems. As a fluent Spanish-speaking clinician, he values providing culturally responsive care and building meaningful relationships with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
Abel is a member of the Oklahoma Nurses Association, National Association of Hispanic Nurses, and National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists.
Outside of work, Abel enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, reading, and exploring new foods and restaurants. He is a proud father and enjoys sharing his love of food, travel, and new experiences with his family.
