Dr. Saleh Velez is an assistant Professor of Neurology. He also serves as associate program director for the vascular neurology fellowship at OUHSC. Dr. Saleh Velez earned his medical degree from the “Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Senora del Rosario” in Bogota, Colombia. He later completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Neuromodulation (Non-Invasive electrical brain stimulation) and clinical research at the Neuromodulation Center from Harvard University in Boston, MA. He later completed his training in neurology at the University of Chicago followed by a vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System. He has an extensive experience in clinical/translational research evaluating the underlying neurovascular effects (TCD, EEG, FNIRS) of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques in different neuropsychiatric disorders such as stroke, neuropathic pain, spinal cord injury . Additionally, he has interest in uncommon etiologies of stroke, including genetic disorders and cerebrovascular complications in patients with mechanical circulatory assist devices. Dr. Saleh velez has several peer reviewed publications and is a member of the world stroke organization future stroke leaders program. He is the principal investigator for over 10 investigator initiated as well as funded clinical trials including being the site PI for StrokeNet studies.
