Ian F. Dunn, M.D., FACS, FAANS, is executive dean of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and the inaugural chief academic officer and chief physician executive of OU Health, the University of Oklahoma’s academic health system and the state’s only fully integrated, comprehensive academic health system.

He joined the OU College of Medicine in 2018 as professor and chair of the Department of Neurosurgery and was appointed executive dean in January 2024, playing a pivotal role in OU Health’s formation. He served as the inaugural chief physician executive from October 2021 and as the first president of OU Health Partners. During this time, he recruited the most comprehensive neurosurgical group in Oklahoma and expanded clinical services across the state.

Internationally recognized for brain tumor and meningioma research, Dr. Dunn has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed journal publications. He was elected to the American Academy of Neurological Surgery in October 2024 and named to the AAMC Council of Deans Administrative Board in April 2026.

Dr. Dunn earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where he later served as an associate professor of neurosurgery, and as director of the Center for Pituitary and Skull Base Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
